Build a high-quality industrial grade ups with the characteristics of various industries to comply with the wave of industry 4.0

Abstract: with the development of industry 4.0, we can see that its ultimate goal is to achieve fast, effective and personalized product supply. In contrast, in UPS power supply industry, with its extensive application in all walks of life, UPS is often criticized in terms of reliability. There are different opinions on how to build ups with high reliability. Here we propose a highly engineering component-based UPS method, "customized" UPS system solution, at least to achieve the UPS system solution with the characteristics of various industries. This highly engineering component-based method greatly improves the reliability and applicability of UPS system.

1.The definition of highly engineering component UPS system and its relationship with industry 4.0 and "craftsmanship spirit"

2.Application case of high engineering component UPS system solution

2.1 The birth of the first special power ups in China

Background: in the nineties of last century, with the introduction of DCS, the power industry began to use UPS in batches. It was found that the battery failure in UPS was high. Domestic and foreign substation, power plant and other users with DC panel put forward an idea for the management of UPS battery, hoping to use "ups head", that is, UPS without battery and charge, and DC terminal is directly connected to DC panel. In this way, the user's DC maintenance personnel ensure the safety of the battery, improve the reliability of the ups, and reduce the investment of the battery.

1) The power ups does not have a battery pack, but directly uses the battery pack hung on the DC panel bus, so the power ups does not need a charger.

2) Because the battery bus of DC panel has insulation detection to ground, the input / output of power ups must have isolation transformer.

3) It can provide cold start function of emergency power.

4) The special UPS for power supply is generally supplied by the main unit, bypass voltage stabilizing cabinet, output feeder cabinet, etc.

5) Because the DCS system load of the power plant is mostly single-phase load, the single-phase load distribution line is simple and easy to maintain. Therefore, most of the power ups output single-phase 220V, and the capacity is generally within the range of 160kVA.


2.2   UPS for Rail Transit

Background: at present, in the rail transit industry, especially in the metro system, UPS power supply system is responsible for the power supply of communication system and monitoring system of control center, station and depot, as well as the power supply of information management system in the data room of control center and depot. Because UPS power supply mainly supplies power to communication system, integrated monitoring system and information management system, a large number of people use commercial UPS, resulting in high failure rate of UPS, safe and reliable operation of rail transit industry, bringing a great potential safety hazard. The reason is that the lack of understanding of the electrical environment of rail transit industry only considers the input green requirements of ups and the output overload capacity. That is, input power factor ≥ 0.95, input current harmonic < 5%, no pollution to the power grid. Overload capacity 125% 10 minutes, 150% 1 minute. It seems that there are requirements on both sides of the grid and load. However, the industrial characteristics of rail transit industry are not considered, that is, the adaptability and reliability of UPS itself in the electrical environment of rail transit industry. It can also be said that the robustness of UPS system is insufficient (robustness is the robustness of the system).


1) UPS protection level shall reach IP31 or above, and dust screen shall be installed at the air inlet of the system. The dust screen shall be easy to disassemble and clean, to prevent metal dust intrusion in the subway use environment to the greatest extent.

2) All internal printed circuit boards shall be provided with three proofing treatment.

3) Uninterruptible power supply adopts industrial UPS, with high level immunity, which is applied to severe electrical environment, i.e. in iec62040-2-2005 EMC standard, immunity is C3 or above.

4) UPS has electrical isolation of power frequency output transformer.

5) The ups adopts independent cooling air duct design, and the transformer, radiator and control panel shall have independent cooling air duct.

6) UPS shall have wireless monitoring function to facilitate remote real-time management of ups.


2. UPS for Marine

Background: the Fifth Plenary Session of the Seventeenth Central Committee of the Communist Party of China put the development of marine economy at the height of national strategy, and clearly proposed to improve the capacity of marine development, control and comprehensive management. Marine engineering equipment is the material and technical basis for the development and utilization of marine resources, which is related to the national energy strategic security. On September 16, 2011, the national development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of science and technology, the Ministry of industry and information technology and the Energy Administration issued the innovation and development strategy for offshore engineering equipment industry (2011-2020), which proposed to comprehensively use tax preferences and optimize financial services to support the development of offshore enterprises. The market size of the global offshore industry is 35-45 billion US dollars. It is estimated that the annual average market size in the next five years will be about 4-5 billion US dollars.


Marine engineering special UPS power supply, that is, marine engineering special UPS power supply. As far as marine UPS power supply is concerned, it includes marine UPS, shore power supply, etc.

The marine UPS power supply shall be certified by the classification society. Classification society has strict requirements in the following four aspects:

1)Three dimensional vibration needs to strengthen mechanical design,

2)High temperature and humidity,

3)EMC,

4)Minimum IP22 protection level.


The three-phase ac440v / 60Hz of marine AC power supply is converted into three-phase AC380V / single-phase 220V / 50Hz pure power supply through ups, and then the general equipment is powered.


The method of using land power supply to supply power to the ships approaching the port is called "shore power technology". When the ships are berthing at the wharf, stop the operation of all the diesel mechanical and electrical stations of the ships, and change the power supply of the ships to shore power supply, so as to reduce the emissions of the pollutants in the port area. According to the different voltage on board, shore power supply is divided into high-voltage shore power and low-voltage shore power. High voltage shore power supply refers to the direct supply of 10kV / 50Hz mains power to the ship after conversion to 6.6kv/60hz. Low voltage shore power supply refers to the supply of 10kV / 50Hz commercial power to the ship after it is converted to 440V / 60Hz.
